The skill standards document for Chemical Dependency Counselor has been published and a supply of the documents has been delivered to the Center for Learning Connections at Highline. (To order, click here.)  We have received much interest in the document by significant groups in the chemical dependency field and we are excited about developing some training curriculum to assist us in using the document in training supervisors of chemical dependency interns; we hope this training will occur this Fall.

We are also doing a presentation on April 23, 1999 at a regional conference for the Organization of Human Services and we are planning to submit a proposal to present at the national conference this Fall. We also hope to incorporate the skill standards for chemical dependency counselors/professionals and for curriculum development in the K-12 system through a Pierce County Tech Prep consortium.

Additionally, we are also exploring developing skill standards for the position of "Prevention Specialist" with the funding coming from interested work groups.
